The book is a research study of the Order of Malta in Cuba, through the members who participated in the Government of the Island since it was discovered in the 15th Century, and more recently, those members of the Order of Malta who were born in Cuba and after the Cuban Association was officially started in 1952 in La Habana, Cuba, the activities of the Association in the Island until 1967, and from its headquarters abroad, first in Madrid, Spain, from 1971 and since the year 2000, from Miami, Florida, where the headquarters of the Cuban Association is currently located.To place the Order of Malta in context, the first chapter summarizes the relationship between Cuba, Spain and Florida in the United States. The second chapter gives a brief description of the Order of Malta and its unique charism as a lay catholic chivalric Order; the third chapter explains the history of the Order, indicating the members of the Order in Spain with Cuban ancestry, as well as members of the Order who held military or government positions during the Spanish Government in Cuba (until 1898).The fourth chapter relates the history of the Cuban Association of the Order of Malta, from 1952 until the year 2020, and the fifth chapter explains the international collaboration of the members of the Cuban Association with the Order of Malta in Rome and with its other associations in the American Continent.The book is based on a research study made by the author, using published materials, interviews with participants, and research of internal documents and official documents of the Order of Malta in Rome and from the Cuban Association, that was required to obtain the degree of Master of Laws in Nobiliary Law, Genealogy and Heraldry from UNED (Universidad Nacional de Estudios a Distancia) in Madrid, Spain in 2020, granted in November of that year.
